12 Healthy Cocktails
I will never be able to deny it: I love a good cocktail. While it is important to take care of your body, I feel that it is equally important to take care of the mind. And that includes de-stressing however you enjoy best, even if that includes partaking in a couple of healthy cocktails every now and then.
If you’ve ever researched the lowest calorie alcohol, you’ll know that classic liquors, such as vodka, tequila, rum, whiskey, and gin are your best bet. Wine and beer are easily over 100 calories or more, but a shot of these spirits will only set you back about 65 calories.
But drinking straight shots isn’t always the most enjoyable experience. Plus, the slower you consume the alcohol the better, so that you consume less calories overall throughout the night.
That’s where healthy cocktails come in. There are some classics that are always great go-to’s for health-conscious folk. But I also wanted to include some more fun, interesting recipes. Sometimes you have a reason to celebrate and you want to show off a little to your friends. Now you can serve up some great cocktails without feeling guilty about all the extra calories!

Vodka soda is probably one of the most classic low calorie alcoholic drinks, because soda water is zero calories. And since this classic cocktail is literally just vodka and soda water, you only have to worry about the calories in vodka.
Gin & Tonic
Same situation here as the vodka soda. The calories in vodka is similar to the calories in gin, so you’re welcome to sip on this classic cocktail any time guilt-free.
This is a personal favorite of mine. Containing clear rum, lime juice, mint, and soda water, it’s sweet/tart flavor is delicious. Some recipes call for added sugar, but a splash of simple syrup will cut the bitterness of the alcohol while still keeping among other low calorie alcoholic drinks.
Rum & Diet
Say what you will about diet soda, but you can’t deny that it has less calories than regular soda. Making this simple combination easier than the full-sugar option.
This simple cocktail of gin and vermouth leaves out all the extra stuff those sugary cocktails contain.
I’m a whiskey person myself. An old fashioned is just a sugar cube, bourbon, bitters, and a splash of water, so it’s a simple drink. This simplicity results in a low calorie option great for any occasion.
The Fun Stuff
When you add fresh fruit and herbs to a drink, you can really punch up the flavor without tacking on a bunch of calories.
