I’ve been blogging (sort of) for almost two years. Being a blogger has been a fulfilling experience. I’ve learned a lot about the way the online world works and I’ve enjoyed sharing my own story.
My Blogging Journey
I started Chefing Around with my boyfriend in December 2016, which seems like only a short time ago but it’s been almost two years now! Time really does fly. The thing is, I’m NOT the chef in the house, I barely know how to cook at all. My boyfriend taught me almost everything I know. (I did know how to cook rice, which apparently is not universal, but that’s a story for another time.) So while he created the recipes and wrote most of the content, I learned about design, development, and promotion. (If you need help getting your blog to look just right, I offer design services at a very affordable price!)
I started Heather to the Max in January 2018. I experienced my fair share of hiccups in the beginning now that I was doing all the blogger tasks by myself. But ultimately, I’m proud of what I’ve created and I LOVE being able to share about MY passions for a change! Hahahaha, don’t get me wrong, I love eating the amazing food that my boyfriend makes for Chefing Around, I’m more interested in the fitness and happiness sides of health and wellness.
That’s why this personal blog isn’t just about being healthy, it’s about GROWING as a person and living your life to the max! You CAN be the total package and have everything you want in this life, you’ve just got to learn how to grow into the person you’re meant to be.
Reasons to Start Blogging
One of the best things about blogging is that it is a powerful creative outlet. You can blog about ANY SUBJECT in the universe. No matter what you’re passionate about, when you own a blog you have a place to express and discuss that passion. For instance, I can never stop talking about Tabata, so I share a lot of information about it on my website. I love sharing my passions online (like music, too) and having a place to collect my thoughts
Share Your Story
In the online world, it can be easier to be brave and open about your own personal struggles. Your journey is important, and it’s crucial in this world for each individual to find their voice. When you have a personal blog, you start to learn more about yourself. Whether you’re blogging about something you already care about, or something you are seeking to gain more knowledge in, you’ll learn about yourself in the blogging process. You’ll learn about things you like and don’t like, and you’ll learn about your own level of self-motivation. For me, the more that my blog grows the more excited I get about it. I’m highly self motivated so I like to throw everything I can into each piece.
The reason it’s important for you to share your story online is so that other people can relate to you. Whether you need support in your own journey, or just want to inspire others in theirs, it is a good feeling to be able to help someone by giving them something to relate to.
Connect With Others
Once you’ve found someone to relate to, it’s a great feeling to connect with each other! You can support each other in your passions and journeys. You can share ideas and learn a lot. This is one of my favorite parts about blogging, I’ve met some really interesting people who in turn inspire me to share my passions and follow my dreams.
It can be scary at first connecting with people online who you don’t know in real life. Just a few years ago, I was the kind of person who would NEVER add someone unless we were friends in real life first. But you can really limit yourself that way. I still struggle sometimes with reaching out to new people, so don’t worry if you feel the same! Feeling uncomfortable means you’re pushing yourself past your previous limits. It will undoubtedly lead to personal growth, even if the communication flops and that person ends up not becoming your friend. You WILL find your tribe while blogging, it just takes a little time and a little effort. But once you’ve found them it feels amazing.
Build a Business
As a blogger, you can use your blog to grow an online business, and many others have. You can find online businesses of all shapes and sizes. You can also just use your site as a personal blog, that’s okay too! Using your blog as a journaling tool can be just as valuable!
Building a business online is one of the best ways to be able to work from anywhere in the world that you want. Working online, traveling, and being your own boss is something most people only dream about. But many successful bloggers have shown that it is possible to make a living as a blogger. If you’re interested in making your blog a business, stay tuned for my next blog post!
I hope this gives you a little insight into the world of blogging. I think it can be a really great experience for anyone and everyone. Whatever your reasoning to starting a blog, it’s always a good idea to just do it. To start your blog, you’ll need to purchase your hosting and domain so that your site has a place to live on the web. I use and highly recommend Bluehost, they’re a reliable hosting service with an amazingly simple set up process. You’ll be blogging in your own personal blog in no time!
